FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

What is Lexote?

Lexote is a deadline and case note tracking app designed for lawyers practising in Türkiye. Select the date of service and the time limit to see the due date, track the time remaining with colour-coded indicators and receive reminders before the deadline. It is designed for iPhone and Android and is available in Turkish and English.

How is the deadline calculated?

The selected time limit is added to the date of service using calendar calculations. For time limits expressed in days, the day of service is not counted. Time limits expressed in weeks or months end on the corresponding day of the final week or month (Article 92 of the Turkish Code of Civil Procedure, HMK). For example, a one-week time limit served on Monday 5 October 2026 ends on Monday 12 October 2026. Lexote does not automatically move the saved date. If the final day falls on a weekend or public holiday, the first subsequent working day is shown separately for information (HMK, Article 93). The deadline time is the time at which you save the note; reminders are scheduled using that time.

Are electronic service and the judicial recess taken into account?

They are shown for information; the saved deadline does not change. Electronic service is deemed completed at the end of the fifth day following the date on which it reaches the recipient’s electronic address (Turkish Notification Law, Article 7/a). When you enable the electronic service option, the corresponding deadline is displayed. For matters subject to the judicial recess, if the deadline falls during the recess (20 July–31 August), the app indicates that the time limit ends on 7 September (HMK, Article 104). A working-day calculation is also shown for time limits that legislation specifies in working days.

Which time limits can I select?

Presets include 1 week, 2 weeks, 10, 15, 30 and 60 days, and 1 month. One month means a calendar month (15 January + 1 month = 15 February), whereas 30 days means exactly 30 days (15 January + 30 days = 14 February). You can also select the deadline date and time directly from the calendar.

When will I receive reminders?

You receive critical reminders 24, 12, 6 and 1 hour before the deadline, followed by a notification when it expires. During the final 24 hours, you can also choose extra reminders every 1, 2 or 3 hours. There is also a reminder 7 days before the deadline and a daily summary of your active notes at your chosen time. Tapping a notification opens the tab containing the note. The “Mark as completed” action completes the note, while “Edit” opens its editing screen. Reminders are scheduled on your phone and can arrive even when the app is closed.

Does Lexote cost anything?

Lexote is currently free, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions or advertising.

Can I use it without creating an account?

Yes. Choose “Continue without signing up” to get started without providing an email address. All features and notifications are also available in guest mode. Guest notes are linked to the guest session on that device. When you register with an email address, your notes are transferred to your account and become accessible across your devices.

Where and how is my data stored?

Your notes are stored encrypted on Google Cloud infrastructure and are accessible only through your account. The database is located in Frankfurt, Germany. The app does not use an advertising ID or track users. For details, see the Privacy Policy.

Does Lexote provide legal advice?

No. Lexote is a note-taking and reminder tool; its deadline calculations are for information only. Refer to the applicable legislation and case records to determine legally binding deadlines.

Where can I download it?

Lexote is available for iPhone as a free download from the App Store. The Android version is coming soon to Google Play.
